Most of us use third party applications to hide files on our machines, but today I am going to share a trick that you can use to hide files inside an image. This trick doesn’t needs any third party software to hide the files, all you need for this trick is a file archive software like Winzip, Winrar or 7zip.

So here we go:

1. First of all create an archive of all the files that you want to hide.

2. After this press “windows+R” now in the Run window type “cmd”.

3. Now a command prompt window will open up. Now here in this window you have to navigate to the root directory (where you have kept the files) and then type the command as:

Copy /B <imagefile.jpg> + <Archive_to_be_hidden.zip> <outputfile.jpg>

Here in the above command <imagefile.jpg> is the file that you are using for hiding the archive. <Archive_to_be_hidden.zip> is the archive that is to be hidden, it should be noted that it is not essential to have the archive in zip format, it can be any format like RAR, 7Zip, Tar, etc. <outputfile.jpg> is the file that will contain the image as well as the hidden files.

If you will open this output file with any image viewer then it will be displayed like an image but to see the files inside it you have to open it with winzip, winrar or whatever archiever you have used. For additional security you can also set a password on the archive.

4. After running this command you will see that it has generated the output file in your working directory.

5. You can open the output image with winzip or winrar to see the hidden files.

UAC stands for User Account Control. UAC is feature in windows that helps to prevent any unauthorized changes to your computer. So, In this post I will show you how to put UAC off in Windows 8.

Method 1: To turn off UAC in Windows 8 :

In this Method we are going to disable UAC via registry. All you need to do is to open registry editor and then change the value of UAC key to false. The step by step procedure for this is described as under:

• First of all press Win+R, this will open a “RUN” window, in the run window enter “regedit” (without quotes) and hit enter.

• This will open a registry editor for you, here you have to navigate to the below specified path.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Microsoft >> Windows >> CurrentVersion >> Policies >> System

 

• On performing this task you will see a window as shown in the image, here search for the “EnableUA” key, after you have found this key, right click it and select the modify option.

• After clicking the “Modify” option a new window as shown above will appear, on this window change the “Value data” to 0. Here “1″ stands for enabling UAC while “0″ stands for disabling it. Click the “OK” button and its done.

• Now restart your system and you will notice that the annoying UAC pop-ups are gone.

Method 2: To turn off UAC in Windows 8 :

If the above method hasn’t worked for you then here I will be telling you a simpler and easier method for turning off UAC in Windows 8. The step by step procedure for this is described as under:

• Open the registry editor again, but this time we don’t have to do some geeky registry hacks. You can open Registry editor by typing “regedit” in the RUN window.

• Now your system will again prompt you for a UAC permission, just below the “Yes” and “No” buttons, there is a link saying “Change when these notifications appear” as shown in the picture. Click on this Link.

• Now a User Account Control Setting window will appear as shown here move the slider downwards to the last level and click the “OK” button.

• On clicking “ok” system will again prompt a UAC dialog click yes and now UAC will be disabled completely for all the users.

Yahoo mail is the third largest email provider in the world just after Gmail and Hotmail, but I personally feel that it doesn’t gets the required attention and respect. So, when I had written the post on “how to configure outlook for Gmail”, I had already decided to write the same post for yahoo mail also. And today in this post I am going to cover the same.

So, before beginning with the topic I would like to tell you about the benefits of configuring outlook for yahoo mail. The first advantage is that you can see or rather check all your emails without visiting the web interfaces of the sites, this makes the email checking more faster and also consumes less bandwidth. Secondly, if you have accounts with multiple email providers then you can check all your emails at one single place. Thirdly you can also backup your emails in the form of “.pst” files and access them even without internet. Enough side talks, now let’s move to the point.

Steps to Configure Outlook for Yahoo Mail:

• Open the outlook and navigate to Tools > Account settings.

• In the Account Settings Window, on Email Tab click the “New” button.

• Now a new window named “Add New E-mail Account” will appear. In the form provided enter your name, email address and password. Click the checkbox “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” and click the “Next” button.

• In the “Choose Email Service” field select the “Internet E-Mail” option and click the “Next” button.

• Now comes the main part of settings. In the “Your Name:” text field enter your name, in “E-mail address” field enter your email address , In the “Account Type” dropdown select “POP3”, “for incoming server” enter “plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com” (without quotes) and in the “outgoing mail server” field type “plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com” (without quotes), in the “User Name” text field enter your full email address including “@yahoo.com” and for the “Password” enter your password. Check the check box that says “Remember your password”.

• Now click on “More Settings” button, and navigate to the “Outgoing Server” tab and there check the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” checkbox, check the “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” radio button, and make sure that “Require Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” is unchecked.

• After this click on the ‘Advanced’ tab. Change the Incoming server (POP3) to 995. Check the option “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)”. Then, change the “Outgoing server (SMTP)” to 465 and Select ‘SSL’ in the drop down list. Click on Ok.

• Now on the “Internet Email Settings” page click “Next” and then “Finish”, after this close the “Account Settings” dialog and hit “F9”.

• Now Outlook will start fetching all your yahoo emails.

• Now right click on the screen and add a new DWORD called WriteProtect and put the value as 0 to disable the write privilege to the USE port
• Likewise for enabling USB Port put the value as 1 or else simply delete the WriteProtect REG_DWORD.

So this was all about how to enable and disable usb port using write protection. Please note that this trick works for Windows XP SP2 only.

Method 2: Enable or Disable USB Ports in Windows

This method is useful if you want that users should not be able to read or write any device connected to the USB Ports. Please note that this could lead to be counter-productiveness as users would not be even able to connect to USB Printers, Scanners, Keyboard or Mouse.

Please follow below steps:

• Go to Start Panel.
• Select Run. Else you could also use a shortcut to Run Window simply by pressing Windows key+ R.
• Type “regedit” in the run window and hit Enter key. Windows Registry Editor will be opened.
• Now on the Left Hand Pane of Registry Editor you will be able to see “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE” Folder.
• Open the folder named:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

• Now on the right hand pane do a right click on the registry.
• Then select Start option.

• Now choose the modify option.
• Now if you need to enable the USB ports then you must change the value of the file from 4 to 3.
• Whereas to disable the USB ports you must change the value from 3 to 4.

Method 3: Enable or Disable USB Ports from BIOS

This method is useful for those users who do not have Windows Operating System. Please follow below given step-by-step procedure to enable or disable ports from BIOS.

• Turn On your computer.
• As soon as booting starts in your computer, go to BIOS Settings.
• Look for the option that allows you to disable USB ports.
• Now disable USB Ports.
• If you want to enable then simply change the settings to enable USB Ports.

Please make sure that you add a BIOS password to protect it from any further modification. Also please note that the BIOS interface depends on the manufacturer of your motherboard so navigation pattern might differ.

Method 4: Enable or Disable USB Ports using Device Manager

In this method you would be able to enable or disable USB Port using Device Manager. Please follow below given step-by-step procedure:

• Go to Control Panel, and Select Device Manager.
