After download is complete, please unzip the file and place it at a defined location.  After this run the application. While running the application for first time. It will prompt you a window wherein you need to add your hotkey modifier (Alt or Shift or Control or Windows) and Desktop Specfier (Number or Function). You can select it as per your convenience.

In case you do not want to open windows using the hot keys then all you need to do is to click on the Desktops Icon in system tray, Select the option that says select desktop. After this it will show you a thumbnail displaying the four windows.

To be honest Sysinteral’s Desktops is equivalently good as compared to WindowsPager and other apps, the only problem being that when you are loading the desktop for the first time it takes a long time to load, although later it becomes instantaneous.

Before heading onto the topic I would like to give you a brief intro on what exactly is Force Quit and what are its aftermath.

What is Force Quit:

Force Quit is more or less same to the End Task option available for Windows OS. Usually when you are done using an application (word, media player, internet browser) at Mac you choose to Quit application using the Menu of that application or else you could use a keyboard shortcut (Command – Q) to Quit the application. Now let’s suppose that your internet browser (e.g. chrome) becomes unresponsive while you were trying to watch a video. Mostly in such cases the Quit option does not work and your computer gets frozen or hangs up. In these scenarios, Force Quit comes into picture. Force Quit allows you to forcefully close the application or programs.

Pros and Cons of Force Quit:

Force Quitting is very useful when an unresponsive application prevents you to access your Mac Menu, here Force Quitting comes as a life saver as all you need to do is to press the keyboard shortcut and it will forcefully quit the application and you will regain control your Mac.

The only disadvantage of force quitting is that you might lose unsaved changes and data (if you are using MS Office then you need not worry about this as Auto-Save might have saved the data for you). So it’s always suggested to try quitting using (Command – Q) key only in the first attempt.

How to Force Quit on Mac:

Method 1: How to Force Quit using Keyboard Shortcut on Mac:

Please use below mentioned step by step procedure to use your keyboard for Force Quitting. Before actually starting to hold the keys, please check the location of these keys on your keyboard and try to adjust your hands on them so that you could hold these 4 keys simultaneously.

1. Hold the Command key.
2. Now hold Option Key while holding the Command key.
3. Now simultaneously hold the Shift Key.
4. Now you need to press Escape (Esc) key until the foreground of application exits.

This might take three seconds for the application to quit. After this you could release all keys and regain the control of your Mac.

Method 2: How to Force Quit using Apple Menu Bar on Mac:

1. Click on the Apple icon available on topmost left hand side.

UAC stands for User Account Control. UAC is feature in windows that helps to prevent any unauthorized changes to your computer. UAC does this by asking permissions before performing any actions that could possibly affect your computer. As a feature it seems to be good but sometimes you will feel it to be quiet annoying. So, In this post I will show you how to put UAC off in Windows 8.

Method 1: To turn off UAC in Windows 8 :

In this Method we are going to disable UAC via registry. All you need to do is to open registry editor and then change the value of UAC key to false. The step by step procedure for this is described as under:

• First of all press Win+R, this will open a “RUN” window, in the run window enter “regedit” (without quotes) and hit enter.

• This will open a registry editor for you, here you have to navigate to the below specified path.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Microsoft >> Windows >> CurrentVersion >> Policies >> System

 

• On performing this task you will see a window as shown in the image, here search for the “EnableUA” key, after you have found this key, right click it and select the modify option.

• After clicking the “Modify” option a new window as shown above will appear, on this window change the “Value data” to 0. Here “1″ stands for enabling UAC while “0″ stands for disabling it. Click the “OK” button and its done.

• Now restart your system and you will notice that the annoying UAC pop-ups are gone.

Method 2: To turn off UAC in Windows 8 :

If the above method hasn’t worked for you then here I will be telling you a simpler and easier method for turning off UAC in Windows 8. The step by step procedure for this is described as under:

• Open the registry editor again, but this time we don’t have to do some geeky registry hacks. You can open Registry editor by typing “regedit” in the RUN window.

• Now your system will again prompt you for a UAC permission, just below the “Yes” and “No” buttons, there is a link saying “Change when these notifications appear” as shown in the picture. Click on this Link.

• Now a User Account Control Setting window will appear as shown here move the slider downwards to the last level and click the “OK” button.

• On clicking “ok” system will again prompt a UAC dialog click yes and now UAC will be disabled completely for all the users.

• Likewise for enabling USB Port put the value as 1 or else simply delete the WriteProtect REG_DWORD.

Method 2: Enable or Disable USB Ports in Windows

This method is useful for those users who do not have Windows Operating System. Please follow below given step-by-step procedure to enable or disable ports from BIOS.

• Turn On your computer.
• As soon as booting starts in your computer, go to BIOS Settings.

Installing Skype on Ubuntu – Method 1:

• First of all you need to make some changes to the /etc/apt/sources.list file from your terminal

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

• Add the following line to the sources.list file

deb http://download.skype.com/linux/repos/debian/ stable non-free

• Save and close the file

• Now in the second step you need to install GPG key

sudo apt-key adv –keyserver pgp.mit.edu –recv-keys 0xd66b746e

• After this, Update the source list files.

sudo aptitude update

• Now use the following command to install Skype

sudo aptitude install skype

Installing Skype on Ubuntu – Method 2:

• Firstly select the Ubuntu system menu and navigate to Administration > Synaptic package Manager as shown in the below image.

• In Synaptic Manager click on tools > Repositories Menu Option. Here ensure that all the checkboxes are checked. After this close the synaptic Package manager.

• Now you have to add the Medibuntu repository. And to install Medibuntu navigate to Ubuntu Applications > Accessories and from there select the Terminal option.

• Assuming that you are on Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn you can use the below mentioned command to install the Medibuntu

sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/feisty.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list

wget -q http://packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add – && sudo apt-get update

sudo aptitude install skype
